Betsy Rader Announces Four Labor Endorsements

Novelty, OH – On Wednesday, Betsy Rader’s campaign announced four new labor endorsements: AFSCME Power in Action (the political arm of AFSCME Council 8 and AFSCME Retiree Chapter 1184), Ohio Federation of Teachers, Ohio Association of Public School Employees (OAPSE/AFSCME), and National Union of Healthcare Workers. In total, these unions represent over 91,000 workers and 30,000 retirees in Ohio.

“It’s an honor to have the support of these labor unions that represent hard-working people and retirees in jobs so critical to the success of our communities. When I get to Congress, I will proudly stand up for the rights of people in the workplace and fight back against policies that seek to roll back the progress we’ve made,” said Betsy Rader. “As an employment lawyer, my job is advocating for working people. I represent workers who have been treated illegally in the workplace–fired because they asked for their overtime pay; fired because they took time off for an illness; fired just because they got older. I represent people who don’t have the protection of a union contract and who realize too late just how vulnerable they are to the whims of a corporation. Labor unions play a vital role in making our economy stronger and our workplaces better, and I’m proud that my campaign has the support of working people.”

These endorsements add to a growing list of groups supporting Betsy Rader, including Communications Workers of America (CWA), EMILY’s List, Planned Parenthood, National Farmers Union PAC, and the Sierra Club.
